If you compared the BC Provincial Small Claims Court to a hockey game, then Jessica Serenity Simpson, AKA Jonathan Gill Yaniv, had a hat trick of losses on August 4, 2023. Since then, Jonny has been spending time at the legal practice rink with more threats and updates to cases already filed to try to get into a legal goal. But it seems he is mostly scoring on his own net. We know that he lurks on many professional sites such as Linkedin, plagiarizing posts & looking for any way to network with members who are unaware of his legally exposed racist and criminal reputation. He has also started making legal threats in the comments section on members’ pages. This behaviour has sealed his toxic reputation on LinkedIn.
The latest involves a Post-Doctoral Visitor, Hazel Gotkas, at York University. Jonny discovered that he was amongst the subjects of her dissertation, Contemporary Discourses about Trans Women: The Making of a Transgender Predator, which was defended at a public PhD defence session on January 20, 2023, at Trent University for the Cultural Studies Graduate Program. The announcement of the event and the dissertation were available on the Trent University Website and ProQuest, respectively, until Jonny began making his threats after July 12, 2023, & the SFU poster campaign (see more below), proving once more despite his LARPING as a respected member the academic community, he is anything but. He does not appear to understand the concept of Academic Freedom, just as he does not understand the legal concept of truth as a defence against claims of libel and slander.
We suspect that the lawyers are reviewing everything, and once that review is complete, the dissertation will be publicly available once more. We also hope that the lawyers don’t hurt themselves from laughing too much once they review Jonny’s SM and legal history. CanLii & the BCHRT are particularly instructive. From both those sources, they will see that Jonny is targeting yet another WOC, new to Canada. It is speculated that a campaign at Simon Fraser University to force him to resign from the Senate Committee on Continuing Studies, a position he won by acclimation, which expires on May 31, 2024, using the dissertation as an example of Jonny’s unsuitability to hold any public position at the university, brought the paper to his attention.
It should be noted that Jonny lost several elections over the past academic year but presented his acclimation to the 2 Senate student positions as a victory and a vindication of his activism. The other position, Undergraduate Award Adjudication, for which he was an alternative, expired on May 31, 2023. The irony is that he has become a “body of subject matter” because of his own predatory behaviour for “social media notoriety” as a “transgender predator”, not for his personal gain in trans activism. His behaviour does not align with any university’s (or even societal) values and academic reputation. We are unsure if the campaign led to his resignation or removal or not, given that SFU is notorious for not updating the site, but his most recent LinkedIn no longer contains his “election”, and remember, he was banned from campus.
Taken with his delusional Allard Law School aspirations, Jonny’s anger is easy to understand. If you search “trans predator BC” on Google, he is the top result. But he has been since the Rebel Media trial last year, long before he became aware of Gotka’s research. We wonder if ChatGPT has started including him as well. How embarrassing, especially if any potential employer or law school admissions committee is doing their due diligence.
